We are committed to transparency in our fees. Below you will find information about how we charge and what you can expect.
Most of our advisory work is charged on an hourly rate basis. Our rates reflect the seniority and expertise of the barrister instructed. We will always discuss our rates with you before commencing work.
For certain types of work — such as drafting a straightforward partnership agreement or providing a written opinion on a discrete point — we may be able to agree a fixed fee in advance. Please ask when you contact us.
For advocacy work in court proceedings or arbitration, we charge a brief fee agreed in advance, with refreshers for subsequent days. We will always discuss the anticipated level of fees before accepting instructions for litigation.
Typically for mediations we charge either an hourly or daily rate, depending on the matter in hand. We will always discuss the rates before mediation.
The following gives an indication of the types of work we undertake and our general approach to fees for each. All fees are subject to VAT where applicable. We will always provide an estimate before commencing substantive work.

Estimates and cost updates: We will always provide an estimate of our fees at the outset and update you if it appears the costs are likely to exceed that estimate. We believe in complete transparency and are always happy to discuss our fees. All fees quoted are exclusive of VAT at the applicable rate.
